This book is a continuation of the author's series of sketches dedicated to geometry and its applications in art. The previous volume discussed geometric constructions that may be useful in creating geometric works. The current volume focuses on the geometric art of Central Asia, the Middle East, and the Maghreb, also known as Islamic geometric ornament.

The author describes how medieval artists from those lands designed patterns for decorating religious architecture and objects related to Islam. These decorations often adorned private and public buildings as well. The methods described in the book are based on research conducted by Russian scholars in the interwar and post-war periods in Central Asian areas. They are much simpler than those presented in contemporary Western literature.

Moreover, these methods are authentic and reflect the methods used by craftsmen in ancient times. The author shows step by step how a tessellation is created on which an ornament is built, and how such a tessellation can be used to design an entire family of ornaments. Numerous examples of geometric ornaments come from photos taken by the author in the Middle East, the Maghreb, Central Asia, and from two collections: Bourgoin J. (1973) and Demiriz Y. (2004).

All the constructions shown in this series of sketches were made by the author and most of them have not been published so far, except for the magazine Matematyka, magazine for teachers. In addition, dynamic models illustrating the discussed issues are available on the websites: majewski.wordpress.com/gsp/ or symmetrica.wordpresss.com/gsp/. The book contains 218 pages in 21x28 cm format, is bound in a brochure and was published in 2017 by Aksjomat Piotr Nodzyński Publishing House.
