Antonius Swoboda (1709 - after 1746) was a Jesuit who worked in many cities in Central Europe, taking care of musical ensembles. His compositions, such as those contained in this notebook, are characterized by conciseness and representativeness of the religious music of that era. After being expelled from the congregation in 1746, he probably worked as a musician in one of the numerous orchestras in the region.

The compositions "Dixit Dominus" and "Litaniae Lauretanae" come from the collection of musicalia of the parish church of St. Hedwig in Grodzisk Wielkopolski and are stored in the Archdiocesan Archives in Poznań. These are relatively concise arrangements, representative of the Catholic religious music that was created at that time in the circles of church and monastery chapels in Central Europe. Both were intended for a popular cast at the time: a four-part vocal ensemble, two violins and an organ performing basso continuo, additionally expanded by a pair of clarini trumpets.
