The educational set Categorization 1 is an excellent educational tool that helps children develop the ability to categorize, i.e., the ability to recognize common and distinguishing features of objects, animals, and plants. Thanks to this, children learn to connect elements according to specific features and assign them according to certain rules. Creating categorizations is based on recognizing a common feature of elements, which develops logical thinking and analytical skills.
In the first stage of working with the child, we bring them closer to the rules and principles of classifying pictures into a specific category. We present the child with a category card and name it. Then we put the pictures from this category underneath and ask the child to arrange them next to the same category. In this way, the child learns to recognize common features and assign elements to the appropriate categories.
The set also includes labels with colors that help in creating categories based on color. We put the pictures in red color underneath, mixed with pictures of other colors, and ask the child to find the pictures that match the category. We proceed in the same way with the label with the name of the given group-category. Thanks to this, the child learns to recognize colors and assign elements to the appropriate categories based on color.
The set contains 36 cardboard elements, 28 pattern cards, a description of exercises, and cardboard packaging. The edition has a format of 163x235 mm, and the year of publication is 2025. The set was published by Arson Publishing House. This set teaches the child to include and exclude elements from categories by noticing deficiencies or differences. Thanks to this skill, children discover order in the world, get to know it, and learn that there are rules regarding objects, animals, plants, and language elements. This set is ideal for group work, which develops children's social and communication skills.
