The authors about their work on the book: In search of the most expressive fruits and vegetables, we searched all the vegetable stores in New York. We carved the found specimens with a simple modeling scalpel, decorating them with natural materials such as black-eyed peas (for the eyes) and beetroot juice (to color the lips). Finally, we photographed our plant sculptures against a smooth, monochrome background to achieve the best possible effect and mood.
