- Critical analysis of late capitalism
- Considerations on the possibilities of a better world
- Reconstruction of the process of postmodernization of Polish poetry
- Embedding lyrics in social life
- Poem as the seed of a possible world
Dawid Kujawa, a Marxist literary critic, editor, and theorist, in his essay looks at poets overlooked by the mainstream of culture. He abandons traditional interpretive treatments to better embed lyrics in social life. The immanent analysis of poetry, in which the category of "meaning" does not play a significant role, allows us to look at the poem not as an element of the ideological superstructure, but as the seed of a possible world, actively participating in the production of subjectivity.
"Kisses of the People" is a presentation of one of the most interesting and controversial critical projects of recent years. Despite historically grounded readings, the author is not afraid to stand out: he revises the canon to look towards the possible. It is a book that we will still argue about, but what a beautiful argument it will be! Zuzanna Sala emphasizes Kujawa's strong theses and his metacritical eye, which carefully follows the gestures of both adversaries and masters.
Dawid Kujawa, PhD in humanities, mainly deals with the latest Polish poetry, French post-structuralism and Italian autonomism. Together with Jakub Skurtys and Rafał Wawrzyńczyk, he prepared and provided an afterword to a selection of poems by Jarosław Markiewicz entitled Aaa!… 111 poems. He lives in Katowice and works as a programmer. His interdisciplinary approach combines literature with technology, creating a unique perspective on contemporary culture and society. The essay "Kisses of the People" is an invitation to dialogue and reflection on the role of poetry in shaping a better world.
