In the years 1976-1983, the military junta in Argentina murdered approximately thirty thousand people. Young people involved in resistance to the dictatorship or inconvenient because of their views disappeared without a trace. They were thrown from planes into the river, kidnapped from the street and taken to unknown places of execution. Children born in prisons were taken from their mothers and given to their tormentors for adoption.

"Twice June" is an attempt to come to terms with the times of the brutal regime, different from all others, because there is no easy division into perpetrators and victims. Kohan reveals the entanglement of ordinary citizens in the mechanisms of systemic bestiality. We see the tortures inflicted on opponents of the dictatorship from the perspective of an anonymous narrator, who values discipline, order and the hierarchy of a young military man, who easily objectifies the tortured enemies and distances himself from the massacre through formal language.

Kohan forces us to watch scenes that we would rather not see. Women experience the most cruel violence, but also put up the greatest resistance to it, while most of society remains in lethargy. The terror of the junta rule clashes with the collective fever caused by the World Cup, creating a metaphor for escaping responsibility.
