The story of the Judgment of Osiris is an allegory of the socio-political relations prevailing in Soviet Russia and Poland under Russian rule. The character of Psunabudes, the deceased minister of one of the pharaohs, is equivalent to a high-ranking Russian politician, a conservative, Konstantin Pobedonostsev. He sought to maintain totalitarian power and force Poles to completely abandon their national characteristics and Polish identity. The writer portrayed him as a heartless liar who, partly out of stupidity and partly out of wickedness, destroys his country and surrounds himself with equally foolish and unreformed officials.
