In the issue "Herito: Pogórnicze" we analyze the ways and possibilities of using the potential of post-industrial spaces with such a unique character as adits, shafts or heaps. We follow the contemporary search for narratives for them and the transformations of their identity. We also look at how economic changes and privatization have affected industrial complexes in specific cases. We ask questions about what to demolish and what to preserve.

Together with the authors, we look into post-industrial complexes from Turów to Borysław and reflect on their past and future, opportunities, but also threats, e.g. the creation of proverbial open-air museums with plastic horses or glazed shopping malls. We also examine various approaches to the heritage of mining, e.g. in Lower and Upper Silesia. In the 56th issue of the magazine "Herito: Pogórnicze" we look at the material, architectural and cultural traces of the history of extraction and consider various ways of taming the post-mining heritage, often called "troublesome".

Central Europe is unique in terms of mining heritage. The mining industry played a key role in social development in this area, so it is so important to appreciate it and consider how to preserve its heritage. How to do it and when is it worth it? We check what places post-mining areas occupy in society in the age of digital capitalism, climate apocalypse and the pressure of developer activities. Or is this a vision of a tragic future? We look for answers in conversations with experts, but also in photography, history or art.
