This publication takes the reader on a journey to 19th-century Katowice, where in November 1884, delegates of the Lovers of Zion movement (Chowewei Zion) came to make key decisions regarding support for settlement in the Land of Israel. This work analyzes the circumstances that led to the organization of the conference in this city, explaining both the direct and indirect reasons for this choice.
The authors examine in detail what factors influenced the decision to choose Katowice as the meeting place and why representatives of the local Jewish community were so actively involved in the preparations for this event. This publication sheds new light on the role of Katowice in the history of the Zionist movement, showing the city as an important center of ideas and activities related to the return of Jews to the Land of Israel.
