This monograph is an attempt to collect in one place the existing knowledge about the coastal artillery of the Polish Navy. The author, Jacek Jarosz, presents the first plans to create coastal and anti-aircraft artillery of the Navy and their implementation in the interwar period. Its participation in the defense of the coast at the beginning of World War II is also shown in detail. The study also describes the post-war history of Polish coastal artillery, with particular emphasis on the system of Permanent Artillery Batteries, which was quite well developed for our conditions.

The book will present both naval gun artillery, anti-aircraft artillery and naval missile artillery. Despite the fact that they were not part of the Navy, the missile squadrons of the Country's Air Defense Forces located in the vicinity of the coast will also be included, which, although their main task was to combat air targets, could also be used against sea targets if appropriate procedures were applied. The monograph is divided into two parts. The first part presents the plans for the development of Polish coastal and anti-aircraft artillery and their specific implementation in the interwar period (1920-1939), i.e. the creation of the first batteries in the vicinity of Gdynia and on the Hel Peninsula.

The author also highlights the history of Polish coastal artillery during the fighting to defend the coast during the war with Germany in September 1939. It will also present in a shortened form the six-year period of German rule on the Polish pre-war coast, i.e. in the Gdynia area and on the Hel Peninsula (1939-1945). The second part will cover the post-war history of the units defending the coast, i.e. the coastal artillery (gun and missile) and anti-aircraft artillery (gun) belonging to the Navy, as well as the anti-aircraft missile artillery (1945-2020) initially belonging to the Air Defense Forces. Fortifications related to coastal artillery units will also be presented, i.e. Battalion and Company Fortified Areas. Jacek Jarosz is a doctor of social sciences, teacher and trainer. For many years he has been dealing with topics related to ships and fortifications. He is the author of a number of monographs on the above-mentioned topics and over 200 articles that have been published in the magazines Forteca, Modelarstwo Okrętowe, Morze, Morze i Okręty, Morze, Statki i Okręty, Nautologia, Odkrywca, Okręty Wojenne, Piechur Morski, Poligon and in the Latvian Baltfort.
