The New Testament Apocrypha is a collection of texts that were not included in the canon of Scripture, but are a valuable source of knowledge about the religious and cultural life of the first centuries of Christianity. Thanks to them, we can better understand how Christian beliefs and practices were formed and what ideas about Jesus and his disciples circulated among the faithful. Prof. Marek Starowieyski, an outstanding biblical scholar and patrologist, undertook the effort of collecting and editing these texts to make them available to the Polish reader.
In the second volume, "Apostles", we find stories about the life and activities of the apostles, their miracles and their martyrdom. These fascinating stories, full of extraordinary events and colorful characters, help us to better understand how the apostles spread the Gospel and how the Christian community was formed. These apocrypha are a valuable supplement to the knowledge about the beginnings of Christianity and allow us to look at them from a different perspective.
This book is the result of over thirty years of work by Prof. Marek Starowieyski and his collaborators. It is the most comprehensive selection of apocrypha available in Polish. In each volume, in addition to the translations and the introductions preceding them, the reader will also find a detailed bibliography and detailed footnotes signaling quotations or references to the Holy Books, which is often the key to a full understanding of the apocryphon.
