LITHOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS OF ROCK FORMATION DEVELOPMENT
Solitary rock formations with diverse shapes, usually called rock groups, have for centuries aroused the interest of researchers and nature lovers. In the Western Sudetes, rock formations are among the most distinctive elements of the terrain, rising above the treetops and shaping the mountain landscape. In her monograph, Aleksandra Michniewicz-Cepuch presents the current state of knowledge about their origin, distribution and development conditions, introducing readers to one of the lesser-known but fundamental aspects of the geomorphology of the region.
- Comprehensive analysis of the origin and distribution of rock formations in the Western Sudetes
- Innovative perspective on the geomorphology of the region
- Use of modern methods of mapping and spatial GIS analysis
- Field and laboratory research in four different geological areas
- Analysis of the influence of rock structure and topography on the formation of rock formations
- Valuable compendium for specialists and nature lovers
- Supplementing existing knowledge with new information about the mechanisms shaping the landscape of the Sudetes
The book is based on the results of field and laboratory studies conducted in four areas with different geological structures: in the Karkonosze Mountains, the Rudawy Janowickie Mountains, the Kaczawskie Mountains and the Izera Foothills. The author analyzed the influence of rock structure and topography on the formation and distribution of rock formations. She used modern mapping methods, geophysical measurements and spatial analyses in the GIS system (Geographic Information System) to accurately determine the factors influencing the development of these rock formations.
This monograph presents an innovative view of the geomorphology of the Western Sudetes, filling a gap in knowledge about the origin and evolution of rock formations. Aleksandra Michniewicz-Cepuch not only organizes the existing knowledge, but also supplements it with new information that allows for a better understanding of the mechanisms shaping the landscape of this part of the Sudetes. Her work is a valuable source of knowledge for specialists in the fields of geomorphology, geology and physical geography, as well as for students of natural sciences and mountain lovers who want to explore the secrets of the origin of the world around them.
This publication is not only a valuable compendium, but also an inspiring read for anyone who wants to understand the processes that shape the landscape of the Western Sudetes. The author presents complex geomorphological topics in an accessible way, making the book accessible to both specialists and a wide audience interested in mountain and nature topics. Thanks to this monograph, readers can better understand how the picturesque rock formations that adorn the Sudetes landscape were created.
This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of the geomorphology of the Western Sudetes and understand how the lithology and structure of rocks influence the development of unique rock formations. Thanks to detailed research and analysis, the author presents a comprehensive picture of the processes shaping the landscape of this region, making this publication a valuable source of information for scientists, students and nature lovers.
