The International Collection of Modern Art of the a.r. group is not only a collection of works, but also a testimony of an era and a manifestation of artistic freedom. It was created from donations from artists and from the initiative of the artistic community, which gives it a unique character and historical value. It is a collection that from the beginning had the character of public collections, sanctioning the heritage of the avant-garde by including it in the official cultural circuit.

The publication opens with two essays that introduce the reader to the context of the creation and development of the Collection. The first essay, by Paulina Kurc-Maj and Anna Saciuk-Gąsowska, presents the stages of building the Collection based on the current state of research. The second essay, by Masha Chlenova, is devoted to placing the Collection among other avant-garde collections created at the same time. This is an excellent introduction to a deeper understanding of the ideas and goals that guided the creators of the Collection.

The main part of the book is the presentation of all the works of the Collection, including reproductions with interpreting notes. Also, the works that were lost during World War II are described or elaborated in accordance with the most up-to-date state of knowledge. The final catalog section also includes a brief history of each work along with a conservation description. This is a comprehensive study that allows for a full understanding of the artistic and historical value of each of the presented works.
