Anna Krawczyk, the author of the book, devoted many years to archival research and studying the life and work of Antoni Michalak in the context of the artistic colony in Kazimierz Dolny and the history of Polish art in the 20th century. Her work is not only a reconstruction of the relationship between two artists, but also a fascinating journey through the history and culture of Poland.
The book consists of two parts. The first is an extensive essay by the author, presenting the dynamics of the relationship between Michalak and Iwaszkiewicz and the history of the creation of the drawings. The second part is testimonies - a chronologically arranged and annotated correspondence of both artists, illustrated with works by Michalak, unique archival photographs, supplemented with comments from witnesses of the events mentioned.
The publication was under the media patronage of the Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz Museum in Stawisko, the Nadwiślańskie Museum in Kazimierz Dolny, Niezła Sztuka, the mayor of Kazimierz Dolny and Brulion Kazimierski. The reviewers were Robert Papieski and Radosław Romaniuk, outstanding experts and editors of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz's work.
