In this study, the works of Charles Péguy are placed at the center of attention, analyzed from the perspective of the fundamental question: who and what is man? In the personalistic approach, man is seen as a person endowed with dignity, and reflection on his essence is inevitably associated with humanism, more precisely, with personalistic humanism, which defends the values of the human person. This monograph is therefore devoted to man and humanity, present in Péguy's heterogeneous writings. The background for this analysis is both an outline of the earlier tradition of thinking about man and the development of personalistic literary criticism. The reconstruction of the cultural context based on the texts of the author himself and his recipients, in my opinion, fits into the research area of the anthropology of literature, for which the method of analysis and criticism of writing is not alien.
