Daniel Olędzki, son of a customs inspector of the Free City of Gdańsk, senior rifleman in the Warsaw Uprising and prisoner of the Altengrabow camp. Danuta Olędzka, daughter of a municipal official, displaced with her family from Nowogródek during the war. They were connected by painful memories, Gdańsk and the love of architecture. They shared character, view of the world and career paths. Daniel and Danuta Olędzcy - one of the most extraordinary couples in the world of Polish architecture. Unlike the Kardaszewskis, Piechoteks or Brukalskis, both achieved significant successes without giving up their individuality.

Today, it is hard to imagine Trójmiasto without the iconic buildings designed by them. Daniel Olędzki's works include the Wybrzeże Theatre, the Musical Theatre or the Baltic Opera. Danuta Olędzka, on the other hand, designed the famous wave breakers and the House of Technology. They lived together, but rarely designed together, knowing that the cooperation of two such strong personalities would require too far-reaching compromises from them. However, they were both guided by the same principle: architecture should be the realization of human dreams. Dreams of a good everyday life and dreams of creating a monument to their era.

The book "Olędzcy. Architecture tailored to possibilities" is a fascinating journey through the life and work of these outstanding architects. Get to know their inspirations, challenges and successes. Discover how their vision influenced the shape of Trójmiasto and Polish architecture.
