Thanks to the popular medium of film, they had the opportunity to reach a wide audience. Censorship authorities could not cope with them: they developed new ways of production, distribution, and projection. It can be assumed that sexual and gender transgressions in American film will not disappear, but will continue to adapt to changing social norms and legal regulations. Prof. Ryszard W. Kluszczyński emphasizes that Paweł Sołodki's dissertation takes up a topic previously absent in Polish scientific literature, being the first monograph on American independent film.
