An-ski's diary, written in Russian, formed the basis for his famous memoirs Churbn Galicje [The Destruction of Galicia], published in Yiddish in 1920. However, the original version of the diary was never published in print. The preserved fragments cover the period from January 1 to October 10, 1915 and include just over 130 pages. These records document An-ski's work in the Jewish Committee to Aid Victims of War in St. Petersburg, and above all his activities in the field, where he helped the victims of war in Galicia and in the central Polish area. His reports are an invaluable source of knowledge about life in the occupied province, on the front line and in the rear, in trains, hospitals, cities and towns.

An-ski's diary is not only a chronicle of events, but also a profound analysis of the social and cultural changes that took place in the world of Eastern European Jews during the war. The author describes the decline of traditional forms of Jewish religion and the birth of new ideologies such as secularization and modern Orthodoxy. His records are an important contribution to the study of the history and culture of Jews in Eastern Europe.

This edition, published by Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN in 2024, is a unique opportunity to familiarize yourself with the original text of An-ski's diary and discover unknown facts from the history of World War I. The book has 194 pages and a format of 237x168 mm, it is bound in a soft cover. The translation into Polish was made by Bella Szwarcman-Czarnota.

War Diary 1915 is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of World War I, the history of Jews in Eastern Europe, and Polish-Jewish relations. It is also a fascinating read for those who appreciate authentic testimonies of the era and want to understand the dramatic fate of people in the face of war.
