When I started working with autistic children 18 years ago, I had at my disposal literature describing mainly cases of boys. It was on the basis of their observations that diagnostic criteria for autism were developed for decades. There were few books about autistic girls. Girls, especially those without intellectual disabilities, had no chance of receiving a diagnosis. Sarah Hendrickx's book puts autistic women in the foreground, from their childhood to their old age. It was created not only as a compendium of knowledge for specialists and those interested in the topic, but above all to support autistic women and give them a voice.
