  • First volume of a planned series of 5-7 books.
  • Important voice in the discussion about history and memory.
  • A monument more durable than bronze for the murdered Poles.

The book "Neighbors. Last Witnesses of the Ukrainian genocide on Poles" is not only a warning against criminal Banderism, but also a monument to those who survived and struggled with the terrible trauma throughout their lives. It is a monument built from the most durable material of memories, documents and evidence. The author, meeting with the witnesses, recorded not only their accounts, but also his own feelings, which adds a personal dimension to the book and makes the reader even more immersed in the emotions conveyed.

The first volume contains several dozen interviews with Witnesses of Ukrainian crimes in Volhynia, Zamość, Podolia, Lesser Poland (including the Carpathian region). Each of the interviews is accompanied by a commentary describing the author's meeting with the Witness. The volumes also contain color photos of Witnesses and other photographs. Witness Roman Strągowski from Parośla in Volhynia recalls: "They came in with axes and first beat the father, they must have beaten him for quite a long time. And us children, when they laid us on the ground, I didn't even feel when they hit me with an axe. I only felt him pulling the belt off my hands. But I think if they see I'm alive, they'll murder me. So I pretended to be dead, my hands fell like that, my memory failed."

This book is an important voice in the discussion about history and memory, as well as a valuable source of knowledge about the tragic events that took place in Volhynia and other regions. It is a must-read for all who want to understand the past and draw lessons from it for the future. The book contains numerous color photographs that complement the accounts of witnesses, adding reality and tangibility to them. It is a book that should be in every library – not only as a valuable historical document, but above all as a testament to human tragedy and the struggle for remembrance.
