The Actor's Club of the Association of Polish Theater and Film Artists, known as SPATiF, was for many years the social, cultural, and informational center of the capital. It was here that artists felt safe, and culture could continue, thanks to the presence of exceptional regulars who still remembered the interwar period. Crossing the threshold of SPATiF was the dream of many, but who could enter was decided by the cloakroom attendant Franio – an institution.

SPATiF, located in the heart of Warsaw, although under surveillance by the security services, remained an island of freedom until martial law. Today, the venue is still operating, but the climate and customs have changed. All that remains of the old SPATiF is a legend and many anecdotes from the time when intense life took place behind closed doors. Aleksandra Szarłat's book colorfully describes this history of Polish cinema, theater, stage, and literature.

Aleksandra Szarłat, the author of the book, is a respected historian and publicist, specializing in the history of culture and social life. Her work is based on solid archival research and interviews with people associated with SPATiF. As a result, the book is not only a fascinating story but also a valuable source of knowledge about Polish post-war culture. The book was published by Czarne Publishing House, known for publishing high-quality non-fiction and reportage.
