The University of Łódź Publishing House presents the ninth volume of the publication series Biography and Biographical Research. The authors were interested in many social groups that experience difficult situations particularly strongly and/or for a long time. Innovative approaches, interesting research procedures, and strategies for developing research results were used in the work. The sick, lonely, elderly, mothers, parents, family caregivers, and people experiencing loss were given a voice. With understanding and empathy, they were asked about the essence of their experience, the emotions associated with it, and attempts to tame and overcome difficulties.
