The volume is dedicated to the individual research part of Stanisław Wyspiański's journey through Pogórze, which the artist began on August 10, 1889 in Grybów and ended on September 5, 1889 in Tarnów. During this trip, he visited picturesque towns such as Krużlowa Wyżna, Mogilno, Grybów, Korzenna, Lipnica Wielka, Ptaszkowa, Królowa Górna, Kamionka Wielka, Mystków, Nawojowa, Żeleźnikowa Wielka, Stary Sącz, Stadła, Podegrodzie, Naszacowice, Tarnów, Zawada and Łęki Górne. Each of these locations was an inspiration for his work, and the sketches made en plein air are an invaluable testimony to his artistic development.
This publication is the result of research and editorial work that made it possible to reunite the two folders of field drawings - the main and the auxiliary - kept in various museum collections. Long considered lost during World War II, these sketchbooks now return to show the richness and diversity of Wyspiański's talent.
