The album "Zero Waste" is the debut material of the Szymon Zawodny Quintet, which was created with a view to ecology and concern for our planet. However, as the author himself points out, it is also a commentary on the hypocrisy and insincerity rooted in human nature. The album cover imitates ecological cardboard, but inside there is a plastic tray for the CD, which symbolizes this duality.

The CD contains 8 original compositions by the leader, which are inspired by the balanced aesthetics of ECM recordings and the economical work of Brian Blade. We will hear juicy two-part saxophones that give the pieces a unique character. Music with influences from mainstream, modern jazz and classical music creates a coherent story called "Zero Waste".

Szymon Zawodny Quintet is a band composed of musicians from the Tri-City environment, founded in early 2023 by the leader Szymon Zawodny. Their music is a combination of jazz and improvised music, inspired by both the ECM aesthetics and the work of Brian Blade. The band consists of: Szymon Zawodny (alto saxophone, flute, compositions), Szymon Kowalik (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone), Dominik Kisiel (piano), Konrad Żołnierek (double bass) and Mikołaj Stańko (drums).
