AT THE DAWN OF RADOM'S WINGS. THE RESERVE OFFICER SCHOOL OF AVIATION IN SADKÓW NEAR RADOM 1937-1939

Discover the fascinating history of one of the most important Polish aviation education institutions of the interwar period. The book "At the Dawn of Radom's Wings" by Krzysztof Busse takes us back in time to the Reserve Officer School of Aviation (SPRL) in Sadków near Radom, which operated in the years 1937-1939. It is a richly illustrated story about people, events and traditions that shaped Polish aviation.

  • Richly illustrated with photos from a commemorative album.
  • History of one of the most important Polish aviation education institutions.
  • Presents the events leading to the establishment of the school.
  • Extensive biographies of soldiers associated with the school.
  • Reproductions of photos and documents, most of which have never been published before.
  • Presentation of forms of commemoration of aviators in the Radom region.
  • Fills gaps in knowledge about the activities of SPRL.

Sadków was not accidentally chosen as the location for the construction of the LOPP pilot school, which was handed over to the Polish Army in 1932. The publication presents the events leading to the establishment of the school, which was first subordinate to the CWOL in Dęblin and later to the independent SPRL (1937-1939). An important element of the book are the extensive biographies of several soldiers associated with the school, as well as reproductions of photos and documents, most of which have never been published before. This is complemented by the presentation of forms of commemoration of aviators in the Radom region, especially officers and students of the Reserve Officer School of Aviation. Currently, the 42nd School Aviation Base in Sadków continues these traditions.

This book is not only a dry historical account, but above all a story about people, their passions and their dedication to the homeland. The author recreates with piety the atmosphere of those years, bringing the reader closer to the realities of life in an aviation school. Thanks to numerous photos and documents, we can see what the daily life of cadets looked like, what their dreams and aspirations were.

This publication fills many gaps in knowledge about the activities of SPRL and is a response to the expectations of enthusiasts interested in Polish military aviation. It is a must-read for all those who want to learn about the history of Polish aviation and the fate of the people who created it. This book is also a tribute to those who gave their lives for Poland.

Krzysztof Busse, the author of the publication, is a historian and aviation enthusiast who has been researching the history of Polish military aviation for years. His work is the result of years of archival research and conversations with the families of aviators. Thanks to his commitment, we can now learn about the history of SPRL in Sadków and the fate of the people who created it.
