FORGOTTEN POLISH COMPOSERS

Rediscover the treasures of Polish music! The "Forgotten Polish Composers" project aims to revive forgotten works by native artists that were created before the war. Many of these compositions exist only in old archival recordings, often with archaic texts that do not encourage contemporary musicians to perform them.

In 2020, thanks to careful work, it was possible to transcribe from archival recordings and then arrange the musical works of two outstanding Polish composers: Leon Boruński and Artur Gold. Their work, although forgotten, is an important part of Polish cultural heritage. The aim of this project is to make these works available to a wider audience and encourage young musicians to reach for these forgotten treasures.

Contemporary recordings of the works of these composers, who created in the early 20th century, allow us to rediscover the beauty and richness of Polish music. We will hear works such as "Ja muszę mieć amantów", "Jak gdyby nigdy nic", "Czarne oczy", "Przy kominku" by Artur Gold and "Trzy listy", "Jakieś małe nic", "Wszystko skończone", "Błękitny ekspres" by Leon Boruński. The performers are outstanding musicians: Bogdan Hołownia (piano), Ryszard Borowski (flute), Mark Waggoner (guitar) and Piotr Rodowicz (double bass).

The recordings were made at ZPSM im. F. Chopin in Warsaw under the direction of Jeremiasz Henzel.
