Zofia Urbanowska, a writer from Konin, began her literary adventure with journalism. Her "Correspondence from the Warta River", published in the "Gazeta Polska" in 1870-1873, is an invaluable source material for researchers of regional history. The young Zosia, at just 20 years old, reported with journalistic passion on the events and daily life in Konin, Koło, Turek and Słupca, just five years after the fall of the January Uprising. Her texts, hidden under the initials "J.", remained unknown to the general public for years.

This publication is the result of a thorough search of the yearbooks of the "Gazeta Polska" from 1870-1874, carried out by Jacek Wiśniewski. Thanks to his work, not only the correspondence of Zofia Urbanowska was found, but also other texts and information about Konin, Koło and Słupca, the author of which was certainly not the writer. All these materials have been collected and published in one volume, creating a comprehensive picture of the region from 150 years ago.
