Agada, Hagada, haggada (Hebrew: haggad) is a narrative that is part of the rabbinic exegesis of the Bible of the Talmud, a type of midrash. Hagadas are stories based on biblical stories, containing comments and details to supplement the plot. Since Judaism forbids portraying people, hagadas serve as an illustration, describing, among other things, the beauty and virtues of the wives of the patriarchs. In hagadas about the flood, there are descriptions of the behavior of Noah, who was to call for conversion, and comments that the long construction time of the ark was an opportunity for conversion.

Unlike halacha, it does not explain rules of conduct. The most famous hagada is the Passover Hagada, a story commemorating the exodus of the people of Israel from Egypt. This work consists of biblical fragments, comments and prayers. It was written between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD. It is read in the yeshiva and during wedding and funeral ceremonies. The story of the exodus of the Jews from Egypt is read during the Seder meal on Passover.

The Hagada for Passover tells and reminds of the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and the plagues that fell on the Egyptians. It describes the duties of the inhabitants of the Jewish home on the holiday, lists the obligatory dishes on the Seder table and the symbolic meaning of each of them. The Hagada provides the prayers necessary to celebrate the holiday, as well as the texts of rhymes and counting rhymes for children. The Hagada for Passover is the Jewish book with the most editions in history (over 3500). In Poland, after World War II, three editions were published: a reprint of the Viennese edition of the Hagada from 1927 (1991), the Hagada for Passover and the Song of Songs with extensive commentaries edited by Sacha Pecaric (2002) and the Hagada for Passover of the Association 614. Commandments (2007).
