The book "Like in a Cabaret. Life in the Polish People's Republic bore a certain paranoia. Because although you could buy a car, you first had to get an allocation for it. You could have the most fashionable dresses that elegant women in Western Europe raved about, but you had to know the manager of the store with export rejects. Artists could prepare the funniest numbers for cabaret or stage, but they still knew that they would be cut out by censorship, which officially did not exist. Outstanding artists could be awarded high state awards and shortly thereafter be taken away from them for what they had been awarded.

Andrzej Klim in his book with humor and nostalgia tells about times that for many Poles are a memory of their youth, and for younger generations - a fascinating history lesson. It is a book that amuses, moves and encourages reflection on the past.
