The Archconfraternity of the Passion of Christ is a phenomenon on a Polish and perhaps even a global scale. Existing continuously for 414 years, it brings together people for whom sanctification through contemplating the Passion of Christ is the goal of life. In the past, the brothers had the opportunity to redeem prisoners, even those sentenced to death, which proves their dedication and mercy.
Today, members of the confraternity participate in the services of the Passion of Christ, which take place every Friday of Lent in the Franciscan basilica. Dressed in characteristic black habits and hoods, with a cane with a skull in their hand, they create an extraordinary, solemn sight. The photos by Adam Bujak, one of the brothers, perfectly reflect the atmosphere of these unique ceremonies.
This publication is not only an album with photos, but also a source of reliable knowledge about the confraternity. The reader will learn why the brothers wear such unusual garments and what is behind the message "Memento homo mori". 80 pages full of fascinating information and unique photographs will take everyone into the world of traditions and secrets of the Archconfraternity of the Passion of Christ.
The album published by Biały Kruk in hardcover, with a format of 300x237 mm, is a must-have for anyone interested in the history, religion and culture of Krakow. It is also a great gift idea for people who value tradition and spirituality.
