The Roman Auxilia set takes us back to the times of the Roman Empire, where auxiliary troops played a key role in the army. Auxilia, or support units, were recruited from the inhabitants of Latin cities and allies of Rome. They were made up of soldiers who did not have Roman citizenship, coming from the farthest corners of the Empire. Unlike legionaries, auxilia were recruited for their local skills - excellent cavalry was obtained from Numidia, archers from Crete, and slingers from the Balkans.
