Mike Blueberry, young and eager, is tired of the espionage missions that have put him to the test. He wants to forget the recent sad events and start a new chapter in his life. However, the Union intelligence service is not going to let go of such a valuable agent so easily. Blueberry is drawn into another dangerous mission, the goal of which is to find a girl kidnapped by a mad pastor. This fanatic, driven by personal revenge, wants to bring about the defeat of the North, and Mike must stop him at all costs.

In one episode, the young lieutenant recalls his participation in the famous Battle of Gettysburg, one of the most important battles of the Civil War. These memories help us to better understand Blueberry's motivations and character, and show the brutality and chaos of war. In another episode, Mike finds himself in a settlement untouched by the war, where he tries to find peace and solace. But the past does not let him forget, and new challenges await him around every corner.

The series about the Early Years of Blueberry is a real treat for lovers of Franco-Belgian comics. Created by two deceased classics of the genre: screenwriter Jean-Michel Charlier (known for "Buck Danny" and "Jim Cutlass") and cartoonist Jean Giraud, also known as Moebius ("The Airtight Garage", "Arzach", "The World of Edena"). The episodes contained in this collected album are by two French comic book veterans: screenwriter Franois Corteggiani ("Pif and Hercules", "Smith & Wesson", "Marine: Pirate Girl") and cartoonist Michel Blanc-Dumont ("Jonathan Cartland", "Colby").
