COLD CREMATORIUM. A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR'S REPORT

Discover the harrowing account of József Debreczeni, a Holocaust survivor who, in his book "Cold Crematorium," presents a ruthless picture of Nazism. It is a work of literature recovered after years, redefining the boundaries of testimony and memory.

  • Direct confrontation with the horror of concentration camps.
  • Subtle reflection on the attempt to confront the horrors with words.
  • Panoptic image of hell, both personal and communal.
  • Significant contribution to Holocaust literature.
  • Literary pearl, a testimony worthy of Primo Levi.
  • Masterpiece that almost disappeared in time.

József Debreczeni, a Hungarian journalist and poet, arrived at the Auschwitz camp in May 1944. He went through the hell of selection, avoiding death only by chance. His twelve terrifying months of captivity and forced labor in the subcamps of KL Gross-Rosen in the Owl Mountains ended in the "cold crematorium" - the Drnhau hospital camp, where prisoners awaited execution.

"Cold Crematorium" is one of the harshest accusations against Nazism ever made. The book was first published in Yugoslavia in 1950, and in the author's home country it was not published until 2024. After more than 70 years, this masterpiece, available in eighteen languages, takes its rightful place among the greatest works of Holocaust literature.

Filia Publishing House presents a reissue of this moving report in 204x142 mm format, in paperback, with 344 pages. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the depth of human suffering and the power of survival in the face of the Holocaust.
