The drama volume "Insect" is a collection of three exceptional plays that were created during the difficult time of the war in Ukraine. The authors, Lena Kudajewa, Oksana Savchenko and Polina Polozhentseva, address important social and existential topics, showing the reality of life in a country engulfed in conflict. Their work is the voice of a young generation that is not afraid to talk about their fears, hopes and dreams.
This publication is part of the "Wschodni Express" series, published by Warsztaty Kultury in Lublin since 2014. The aim of this series is to present the works of contemporary writers from Central and Eastern Europe to Polish readers. Thanks to this, we can better understand the culture and problems of our neighbors.
The co-publisher of the publication is the Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute, which, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, runs an artistic residency program for theater creators from Belarus and Ukraine. The aim of the program is to connect Ukrainian and Belarusian representatives of creative professions related to theater with Polish organizations operating in the field of culture, as well as to create a network of contacts and create real opportunities for cooperation.
These dramas were financed from the Stabilization Fund - an initiative of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany and the Goethe-Institut, which supports cultural and educational organizations that have been affected by the war in Ukraine. This is proof that culture and art are important even in the most difficult times.
