"The Last Visit" is the story of Zbigniew Pielach, a Soviet agent operating in post-war Poland. He has a level head, a gun, and will not hesitate to use weapons, axes, or blackmail. 13 years after his last secret mission in the Polish People's Republic, he receives another order from the KGB - he is to kidnap doctor Stanisława Krzemińska, whom he knew and may have once loved. He carries out the order, but decides to do everything his way and make money in the process. However, something goes wrong and the situation gets out of control.

The book is based on true events from 1970, when Soviet agent Zygmunt Bielaj aka Iwan Ślezko kidnapped Płock doctor Stefania Kamińska, a former soldier of the Home Army and participant in the Warsaw Uprising. The motives for this crime are still unclear, and the victim's body has not been found. Jacek Ostrowski carefully examined the court files and conducted conversations with the prosecutor who led the investigation, trying to answer questions about this case and presenting his own version of events.
