In her book "Radicals of Solidarity. MKZ Katowice NSZZ Solidarity was established as a result of the strike at the Katowice Steelworks in September 1980. Soon MKZ Katowice became one of the largest regional centers of the Union in the country. Andrzej Rozpłochowski took part in the work of the National Conciliation Commission, of which he was a co-founder, and was later elected a member of the National Committee of NSZZ Solidarity. It was the activity of this center that had a great impact on shaping the program and tactics of NSZZ Solidarity.
