I invite you to a fascinating journey into the depths of language philosophy, where together we will explore the secrets of the functioning of language and its role in our perception of the world. Krzysztof Sękowski's book is not only an analysis of philosophical theories, but above all an invitation to a thought workshop in which intuition becomes a research tool. Is it reliable? What are its limits? Can we do without it? The author seeks answers to these questions, leading the reader through the meanders of the theory of reference.

  • Accessible explanation of key issues in the theory of reference.
  • Reflection on the influence of culture on philosophical findings.
  • Comparison of the functions of intuition in language philosophy and the specific sciences.
  • Presentation of the empirical nature of linguistic intuitions.
  • Inspiration to reflect on the way philosophy is practiced.
  • The influence of reflection on the role of intuition in philosophical research and language analysis affects our understanding of cognition, also in everyday life.

Krzysztof Sękowski, philosopher and assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw, invites us to his world of intellectual exploration. The author passionately analyzes problems in the fields of metaphilosophy, philosophy of methodology, epistemology of modality and philosophy of language. His research focuses on the influence of culture on philosophical findings and the way it is practiced. Sękowski is a scholarship holder of the Kościuszko Foundation at Dartmouth College and a laureate of the Minister of Science's scholarship for outstanding young scientists and the START program of the Foundation for Polish Science.

In his book, Sękowski presents both the limitations of appealing to intuition and its inevitability. By showing the empirical nature of linguistic intuitions and comparing their role in the philosophy of language to their function in the specific sciences, the author argues that the philosophy of language should be understood methodologically as a branch of science. This innovative approach will certainly interest both philosophy students and all those who want to understand how language shapes our thinking and perception of the world.
