The book "Into the Depth and Distance I. On the Poetry of Mickiewicz and Słowacki" is an attempt to outline the imagination of Polish Romanticism. The description of this imagination was made on two levels. At the first level, important themes of romantic poetry (focused around two centers - Being and subjectivity) are analyzed from the perspective of the poetic imagination, whose modified and developed instruments enabled the study of diverse and complex issues.

At the second level, this study of romantic themes allowed for the extraction and description of significant and individual features of the romantic imagination itself. In the first part of the book (I in the spaces of Being), stable (metaphysical) and dynamic models of the being of Słowacki's and Mickiewicz's poetry were examined and described. This phenomenology of romantic Being was complemented by the interpretation of evil - as the second, dark side of Being - in Mickiewicz's poetry.

The second part (Spaces of I) contains the recognition and description of non-standard models of romantic subjectivity, going beyond previous approaches. The focus was on the interpretation of the late poetry of Mickiewicz and Słowacki. The whole was complemented by analyses of the inner world and the shapes of romantic mystical poetry. The book has 408 pages and is in 210x153 mm format. It was published in 2024 by the Publishing House of the University of Silesia in paperback.
