Father Pio, a widely known and admired Capuchin priest, unlike many other saints, did not write any theological treatises or devotional reflections in his life. He also did not keep a diary. The only writings that have survived from the Saint of Pietrelcina are the extremely extensive correspondence in which he shares his knowledge of spiritual reality with the recipients. A significant part of the correspondence was published in Italian in the 1970s in four extensive volumes.

It reaches the Polish reader for the first time in the form of the second volume of this edition of letters (the remaining three volumes are being prepared), which includes the correspondence of Father Pio with Raffaelina Cerase, his special spiritual daughter. The exchange of letters initiated by Raffaelina at the instigation of Father Agostino, the confessor and spiritual director of Father Pio, is conducted in the years 1914-1915 until the death of the Beloved due to cancer. During this difficult time for her, the holy Capuchin constantly accompanies her, strengthens her, and points her to heaven.
