Bolko II the Small took over the small Duchy of Świdnica in 1326. Thanks to his political and diplomatic skills, he managed to transform it into a powerful Świdnica-Jawor domain. At the time of his death in 1368, his realm included the Margraviate of Lusatia, half of the Duchies of Brzeg, Oława, Głogów, and Ścinawa, as well as a number of smaller territories.
