Marcin Szewczyk, the author of "Silesia Noir", is the winner of the one-act play competition in Silesian organized by Gazeta Wyborcza. His novel is a black crime novel set in the noir convention, which takes the reader to the realities of Upper Silesia in 1927. It is a time when it is constantly raining over the region, fog envelops the streets, and elwry and chachory hide behind the corners. The air is saturated with black soot, and a psychopathic murderer is raging in Rybnik and Racibórz.

In this sick game with a madman, Herman Fox, a private detective worn out by life, stands, who has extensive experience in catching criminals. However, for years he has been haunted by remorse, which he constantly suppresses with vodka. In the background of criminal puzzles and twists, a cunning and mysterious femme fatale appears. The novel also touches on important historical themes, such as the clashes between Polish and German nationalism, the world divided by the Oder border, as well as the realities of life in those days, where telephones were cranked and legendary Ford Ts roamed the streets.

"Silesia Noir" is not only a crime novel, but also a picture of Upper Silesia in a period of transformation. The author does not avoid difficult topics such as anti-Semitism, social inequality and historical changes. However, it is worth remembering that the statements and attitudes of the characters and the narrator serve only the needs of the narrative and in no way express the views of the creator and publisher of this book. This is a read for readers who appreciate a dark atmosphere, an engaging plot and a realistic depiction of history.

The Silesia Progress publishing house hands over to readers a novel that will be remembered for a long time. "Silesia Noir" is a must-read for lovers of noir crime novels, the history of Upper Silesia and literature written in Silesian. Immerse yourself in the dark world of Herman Fox and discover the secrets hidden by Silesia.
