This work is part of a lively interest in the figure of Saint Clare of Assisi, which has recently been observed more and more often in Poland.
Saint Clare of Assisi was a woman of very strong personality, great spiritual charm, and extraordinary freedom of thought. She believed that women were entrusted with a very important mission in the Church in the renewal of faith, in reviving the message of Christ through a new way of acting in accordance with the Gospel. It was thanks to her courage and determination that it was possible to submit for approval to the Church the text of a religious rule for women who wanted to serve God on the path of highest poverty. She is therefore the first woman in the history of Christianity to compose a Forma vitae, thus codifying the evangelical experience of the community of Poor Ladies of San Damiano.
Marco Bartoli, the author of the book, is a well-known historian and theologian, specializing in the history of the Church and medieval spirituality. His works are characterized by an in-depth analysis of historical sources and the ability to present historical figures in a way that is understandable and inspiring for the contemporary reader. The author passionately presents the figure of Saint Clare, showing her extraordinary contribution to the development of Christianity and her universal message for every human being.
