THE BOOK OF RULES. COMMENTARY ON THE APOCALYPSE

Discover the depth of interpretation of the Holy Scripture with The Book of Rules. It is not just a commentary, but a key to understanding the mysteries of the Apocalypse, opening new perspectives on the biblical text. Immerse yourself in a fascinating journey through the seven rules, which, like signposts, lead through the labyrinth of symbols and prophecies.

  • Seven rules for interpreting the Holy Scripture
  • Key to understanding the Apocalypse
  • Insight into African Christianity in a historical context
  • Practical application of the rules in the Commentary on the Apocalypse
  • Analysis of the mystery of the Church as the body of Jesus Christ
  • Personal exegetical practice of the author
  • Illustrations for each rule in the Commentary

The Book of Rules is the result of the personal exegetical practice of Tychonius, who methodically studied the biblical text. His Commentary on the Apocalypse is a practical application of these rules, offering the reader a unique tool for interpreting the Holy Scripture. For each rule, you can find a specific illustration in it, which makes the reading more understandable and accessible.

The text of the Book of Rules presents seven principles, which, like keys, can open the mysteries of the Holy Scripture, as Augustine wrote, imitating the vocabulary of Tychonius himself. These rules proposed by a theologian of the divided Church describe the situation of African Christianity in such a way that the then state of affairs does not negate what is most important in the Church: the Church is primarily the body of Jesus Christ. Therefore, three rules are devoted to the mystery of this body: I. The Lord and His body, II. The twofold body of the Lord and VII. The devil and his body.

The remaining rules are more related to the interpretation of the biblical text itself: III. Promises and law, IV. Genus and species, V. Times, VI. Recapitulation. The Book of Rules grew out of the author's personal exegetical practice and served this practice. Tychonius was, in fact, a methodically acting text researcher. We know this because Tychonius' practical use of the Book of Rules is his Commentary on the Apocalypse.
