Janusz Sepioł, born in 1955 in Gorlice, is a graduate of the Cracow University of Technology and the Jagiellonian University. His rich experience includes architecture, art history and urban planning. He served as the Architect of the Krakow Voivodeship, Marshal of Małopolska, senator of the 7th and 8th term, and is currently the Chief Architect of Rzeszów. His achievements have been honored with the SARP Honorary Medal, the Golden Badge of the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland and the J. Regulski communal award. He is the author of numerous essay books as well as the co-author and editor of many professional publications.

The book ?Between Lviv and Krakow. Architectural Sketches? is not only a collection of drawings, but above all a record of the author's impressions and reflections from places scattered between two artistic metropolises. It is a kind of itinerary in which the titles of individual chapters are mostly place names, but they could just as well be the names of people to whom these texts relate. Almost every time there is a biography: designer, patron, researcher. These are stories about buildings, places and people.

The publication focuses on the architecture of the ?second row? or the architecture of smaller centers, showing them against the background of architecture that is mostly anonymous: wooden churches, churches, synagogues, which create a unique cultural landscape of this part of Europe. The book largely concerns the culture of Krakow directly. On its pages appear architects who work here and then migrate to Lviv, such as Teodor Talowski, Jan Sas-Zubrzycki, Adolf Szyszko-Bohusz or Zbigniew Kupiec, who comes from Lviv and works in Krakow and Podhale, or Mateusz Tekielski, who comes from Krakow and works in Rzeszów.
