The book is the second volume of articles from the publishing series "Transfer of Arab culture in the history of Poland". This series presents the results of the work of a team of scientists from various disciplines, implementing a research project under the National Program for the Development of Humanities entitled Cultural transfer as a transdisciplinary element of science on intercultural relations on the example of the influences of Arab culture in the Polish cultural heritage (project No. 2bH 15 0156 83 for the years 2016-2020).

These researchers dealt with various elements and areas in which Arab culture came into contact with Polish culture, starting from early medieval archaeological finds, manuscripts of early Arab travelers through direct travels of Poles, their diaries left behind, their participation in diplomatic relations with the Arab world to science, literature and art. As part of the project, the authors also examined the role played in the transfer of Arab culture to Polish culture by intermediaries of other ethnic origin. The spiritual sphere, i.e. philosophy and even religion, as well as linguistic issues, were not omitted. As you can see, the scope of contact between Polish culture and Arab culture is very broad, multidimensional and multi-threaded.

The second volume, entitled Links of transfer. On the role of intermediaries between Arab and Polish culture, begins with a theoretical and methodological introduction to the theory of cultural transfer. Further texts in the volume concern various ethno-cultural groups as intermediaries, constituting the first element of the cultural transfer process. The role of Turks, Karaites, Jews, Armenians and Tatars, as well as members of the contemporary Arab diaspora in the transmission of material and non-material elements of Arab culture to Polish culture, was discussed.
