Father Witold Kawecki, the author of this extraordinary publication, takes us on a journey through Italy, showing the achievements of female artists, especially Artemisia Gentileschi. Her life and work reflect contemporary Italy, combining ancient traditions with Christian roots. Artemisia, born in Rome, was artistically shaped in Tuscany, the cradle of the Renaissance and the center of art.

During this literary pilgrimage, we will wander through places where Artemisia certainly was, where she worked and created. The author will also tell about corners that he only assumes she could have stayed in. He superimposes the topography of her travels on the map of contemporary Italy, creating a guide to the painter's work, which at the same time becomes a description of a journey through beautiful Italy. This book is also a story about other female artists working on the Apennine Peninsula: about the nun Plautilla Nelli, about Lavinia Fontana, about Elisabeth Siriani, about Sofonisba Anguissola, about Angelica Kauffman and about Tamara Łempicka.
