On June 17, 1922, in the Polish part of Upper Silesia, the Police of the Silesian Voivodeship was established, which, next to the State Police, was the second police formation operating in the Second Republic. The Police of the Silesian Voivodeship in the area of the Silesian Voivodeship in its Prussian part took over jurisdiction from the Police of Upper Silesia. A little later, from August 15, 1922, it also took over police tasks in Cieszyn Silesia from the State Gendarmerie of Cieszyn Silesia. Until the outbreak of World War II, the Police of the Silesian Voivodeship remained a law enforcement force of the autonomous Silesian Voivodeship.
