Rafał Bielski, owner of one of the largest collections of Warsaw photos, postcards and plans, invites you for a walk through the streets of 19th-century Warsaw. The album presents the first photographs of Warsaw by Karol Beyer, Maksymilian Fajans, Konrad Brandl or Jan Mieczkowski, through the first Warsaw lithographic postcards issued in Paris, Warsaw or Stockholm, to the first photo postcards and the reform of 1904. The author's intention is to let people who lived in the 19th century and were involved in the history of the city speak about our 19th-century capital. Hence the idea to use quotes from 19th-century guidebooks to describe individual streets, parks or monuments. Thanks to this treatment, the album gained the character of an exclusive guide.
The album also includes a reproduction of the information plan of Warsaw from 1899, made using lithography in the famous Otto Fleck workshop. Rafał Bielski is a lawyer, collector of Warsaw photos, postcards and plans. Author of the repeatedly reissued album There was a city. Warsaw on an old postcard, co-author of the album Lost City. Warsaw yesterday and today, member of the Society of Friends of Warsaw. A lover of historical novels as well as sensational and crime literature.
The album has 208 pages and a format of 300x218 mm. It was published in 2023 by Skarpa Warszawska Publishing House in hardcover.
