Shmuel ha-Nagid (993-1056) was not only an outstanding poet, but also an influential vizier and military commander at the court of the Berber rulers of Granada. His poetry is a unique autobiography that allows you to look behind the scenes of the great politics of that time and into the heart of a man who had a real impact on the course of history. The anthology contains carefully prepared translations, equipped with a critical apparatus and commentary, which bring the unique heritage of Al-Andalus closer to the Polish reader.


The selection of works by Shmuel ha-Nagid is complemented by the lyrics of Dunash ben Labrat and his wife, as well as the poems of Kasmuna bint Ismail, the daughter of Ha-Nagid.
