Tadeusz Dołęga-Mostowicz was born on September 23, 1900 in Głębokiem. He is one of the most widely read Polish writers of the interwar period. He gained popularity through novels such as Career of Nikodem Dyzma, The Quack, Doctor Murek or Diary of Mrs. Hanka, Prosecutor Alicja Horn. According to the biographer and publisher Jerzy Rurawski, Kiwony was Mostowicz's earliest novel, probably written in the late 1920s of the last century.
